Paolumu Eggs: Paolumu hatch from the pink and white striped flying wyvern eggs. Another, extra special aspect about the Kulu Ya Ku, is that they improve the player's ability to search nests for more eggs. Aptonoth Eggs: Aptonoth hatch from the green herbivore eggs with gray stripes across them. However, based on color and pattern, these are the identifiable egg types. Generally speaking, no matter the color, pattern, smell, or weight, if the egg sparkles when picked up, it's a keeper. Fanged Beast eggs have starbursts on them and contain cuties like Arzuros and Lagombi.Navirou will tell the players some of the identifiers when the player first collects the egg. Brute Wyvern eggs have horizontal lightning-like stripes and contains monsters like Anjanath and Barroth. 
The pattern extends to outliers like Qurupeco and Yian-Kut-Ku.
Bird Wyvern eggs have dinosaur-like spots like the ones found on the very first egg received containing a Kulu-Ya-Ku. The patterns tell the monster type, like Brute Wyvern or Herbivore, which further helps identify what's in the egg. If you know your Monster Hunter, it's fairly easy to guess which Monstie you'll get based on this alone, otherwise it will take some time to learn. For example, Great Jaggi's egg is purple with red spots, like a Great Jaggi's colors, and a Zinogre egg is blue and yellow. Egg colors generally dictate the specific Monstie hiding inside. The patterns and colors of eggs dictate the type of Monstie you'll get.
